Summary: If you have an old Fujitsu Scansnap, and it still works, download the newer version of the software which is still compatible with the machine and allows support with the newer 64-bit only versions of MacOS. The only downside is when looking at the size of the old version of the software I had (V2) versus the newest version (V7) there is a massive size difference (c.50MB v 1GB!) in the software, but this is not really a major issue for me.
